Well Done to our fantastic Swim Team - you made the staff very proud in the way you represented our school! Not only did you compete to the best of your ability, but you were all very supportive of one another and polite and respectful with other competitors.
We won the overall Swimming Gala Trophy for 2015... but that is not all! We also won the freestyle relay and the canon relay (which earned us another, smaller trophy). There were also individual wins for Sarah, Sam, Oliver and Isabel. A super effort from all involved!
Congratulations to the Year 5/6 Boys' football team!!
After qualifying for the Chorley Schools' Football Finals at Holy Cross on Thursday 27th November the team made it to the semi finals only to be beaten by the eventual winners. In the 3rd place play off match they won 4-1 to claim third place and the much prized Bronze Medals.

Last night we were at Holy Cross with the year 3/4 athletics team for the Sportshall Athletics heat.
The children's behaviour and attitude towards the competition was fantastic. Their performance was outstanding!
Mrs Singleton, Miss Hamby and Mr Woodrow were delighted for the children when we heard they had come first - a well deserved win! The children were overjoyed and it was lovely to see the team spirit and how they all congratulated one another, as they had done throughout the event.
Now we can look forward to the final in January - more details soon!
The team performed really well and made Mrs Singleton and Mr Woodrow very proud. All of the children did well in their events and there were some fantastic individual performances.
Balshaw Lane came 3rd out of the 9 schools participating in this heat. It was very close on points:
3rd place - Balshaw Lane with 330 points
2nd place - Anderton St Joseph's with 338 points
1st place - St Laurence's with 344 points
We now need to wait to hear the results from the other heats before we know whether we are through to the finals or not - we think we have a good chance because of our high score!
Children in KS2 will be helping to raise money for The British Heart Foundation through this sponsored event. The event is now being split over two days - Tuesday 11th November and Thursday 13th November - this is to make sure our event doesn't clash with remembrance activities and reflection on Tuesday.
Remember, skipping is a fantastic activity to keep your heart healthy. It is used by many athletes and sports people as part of their training!
Please make sure any sponsorship money is brought into school by Friday 14th November.
