At Balshaw Lane, we take the medical needs of our pupils very seriously.
If your child has longer-term medical needs, please inform the school.
This should be done when the child starts school or when a new need arises.
It is the parent's responsibility to keep school updated of any changes.
Each year, we ask parents to complete a data collection form which gives parents the opportunity to refresh the information school holds.
If your child requires medicine in the short-term, parents should complete a medicine form.
Medicine should only be administered in school because it is required four times a day or for another specific medical reason.
If medicine needs to be refrigerated, parents should send it in a small cool bag with a cool pack.
If children require longer-term medicine, we may require a medical care plan.
In this case, we would discuss this with parents and the school nurse or other medical specialist.
